How to…
Wean a litter
At P21, move the pups out of the breeding cage into cages of their own, and the litter leaves Home and the calendar.
Anyone who may edit the cageDesktop and lab server
- Find the cage: on Home, each row of Upcoming weanings opens its cage; or open it on the Cages tab, where Wean due shows in its row.
- Press Wean.Pups younger than P18 are weaned only after you confirm, with Wean early.
- Check the rows in Wean and distribute pups. They start with the cage's pups, females and males on separate rows; the mice in a row go to one place.Add row adds another destination. The sex on a row is given to its mice. Mice not listed in any row stay in the cage.
- For each row, type an Existing cage, or leave it empty for a new cage of yours, with Card (new cage) as its card's label.A filled Existing cage wins over Card.
- Press Wean and move. To move the pups yourself later, press Mark weaned, move pups later instead.
Either way the litter is marked weaned and leaves Home and the calendar. Then print cards for the new cages.
