Sign a notebook page

When a page should be the record of your work, sign it: its text is fingerprinted and the page is locked.

Whoever may edit the pageDesktop and lab server
  1. Open the page in the Notebook.
  2. Press Sign at the top of the page.The page's owner, and anyone it is shared with to edit, can sign it; anyone else can witness it once it is signed.
  3. Under What you are saying, choose whether you did this work or reviewed the page.
  4. Confirm who you are: Your password, or, if you sign in with Google or Microsoft, your user name.
  5. Press Sign and lock.

Its exact text is fingerprinted and kept as a version, any live experiment in it is frozen as it is then, and the page is locked: nobody can change or delete it. The button now says Signed; it lists every signature, each showing whether the page still reads as it did when signed. A lab mate can open it and Witness the page.

Changing a signed pageIts owner presses Signed, writes Why it is being amended and presses Open to amend. The reason and every signature stay with the page; sign it again when it is done.
