Terms
Terms. Free software, run by your lab.
BioManager, this website and the plugin for AI assistants are free and open source. These terms say what that means in plain words.
The licence
BioManager and its plugin are released under the MIT licence. You may use, copy, change and share them, at no cost, as the licence says. The licence is the agreement that counts; these terms only explain it.
No service
BioManager's makers run no service for your lab: you run the app on your own computer or server. So you are responsible for your lab's records and their backups, for who may use your BioManager, and for using it within your institution's rules, including those on animal work and research records.
Provided as is
As the licence says, BioManager is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Its makers are not liable for any claim, damages or other liability arising from it or its use. Check what matters before you rely on it, and keep backups.
AI assistants
An AI assistant you connect only proposes changes; nothing changes until you approve them in BioManager. Read each proposal before approving it: you are responsible for what you approve. Numbers BioManager works out for an assistant (animals per group, breeding plans) come with their assumptions; check them for your work. Using an assistant is also subject to its company's own terms.
This website
The website and the user guide are provided as is, to help you use BioManager. Their words and pictures are under the same MIT licence as the app, except the icons and fonts credited at the foot of each page, which keep their own licences.
Changes and contact
If these terms change, the new version is published here with its date. Questions: open an issue on GitHub.
