Print cage cards
Print a card for each cage, with a QR code that opens the cage on a phone at the rack.
Anyone in the labScanning needs a lab server
- In the mouse colony, open the Cages tab and choose My colony, My groups, Shared or Everyone: the cards are for the cages you see.For one cage, the print button on its row or card prints just its card.
- Press Cage cards in the toolbar. For tanks, vials and tubes: Tank labels (Zebrafish), Labels on a fly or worm database, and Labels on ticked samples, reagents or any inventory's rows.
- Under Print on, choose a sheet of cards for any printer, or a label printer's roll: Brother QL (62 × 29, 90 × 29, 100 × 62 mm) or Zebra (2 × 1, 3 × 1, 4 × 2, 4 × 2.5 in). Press Show.Your choice is remembered. On a label printer it prints one label a page, typed to fit.
- Press Print. For a label printer, pick it and that label size in the print dialog, with margins None.
- For a Zebra, you can instead press Download for Zebra (.zpl), or Send to Zebra once an admin has added its address on the lab's network (under Send labels straight to a Zebra on the network).
- Put each card on its cage.
Each card shows the owner, purpose, where the cage goes (rack and position), its animals with how many of each sex, the genotype and a QR code. Scanning it opens that cage, ready to edit, at the rack.
Scanning on a phonePhones reach a lab server, or a desktop that shares its lab on the network
(Devices): otherwise the app on one computer is private to that computer.
Troubleshooting
My phone can't reach the server
Check the address with your admin; that you're on the lab's network, VPN or Tailscale; and, if your lab uses its own certificate, that it's installed on the phone.
